Two men hurt in Denver lightning strike

Authorities in Denver said two men were sent to an area hospital after the tree they were taking shelter under from the rain was struck by lightning.

Police say the men were sitting under the tree at the border of the campus to avoid heavy rainfall.

One of the victims was not breathing when crews arrived, the Denver Fire Department said. But he is expected to live.

The second man, Jose Salas, told our partners at 7News in Denver that he was walking from his apartment and was struck near the tree. He too was transported to Denver Health.
