Boy seriously injured by pit bull in Commerce City

A toddler is being treated for serious injuries after being mauled a pit bull in Commerce City.

Police say the dog was tied up Sunday night when the boy approached to give it a hug. Police spokesman Chris Dickey says dog latched onto his face.

Officers restrained the dog but it continued to fight and died of asphyxiation during the process.
