Officer-involved shooting in Colorado Springs with attempted murder suspect out of Mississippi
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting with a man wanted for attempted homicide in a different state.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers responded around 9:30 a.m. to an investigation attempt to locate the suspect, wanted out of Mississippi.
Officers made contact with a man who matched the description of the suspect in the 200 block of N. Circle Dr. According to Lt. Jim Sokolik with the CSPD, the man fired at officers. At that time, at least one officer returned fire and the suspect fled the scene.
Lt. Sokolik says officers made contact with the man again in the 400 block of N. Circle Dr. That's when the suspect again drew a firearm. At least one officer fired a handgun at least once time, striking the suspect.
Lt. Sokolik confirmed the suspect died at the scene.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office will be the lead investigative agency in this shooting.

Drivers were asked to avoid the 300 block of N. Circle Dr.
A witness told KRDO they heard gunshots just after 11 a.m. According to Joshua White, several officers were moving around his business, now there are bullet holes in the back of his building.
White provided KRDO with surveillance video outside his business, moments before shots rang out.
