Donations pour in for cat rescued from home of alleged kitten killer
A rescued cat will get the surgery he needs thanks to our community’s generosity.
Stewie needs an operation to correct a congenital esophagus malformation called Persistent Right Aortic Arch or PRAA.
The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region estimates the surgery will cost $2,000 and says it has already received more than $3,000 in donations for Stewie.
The humane society says any donated money that is not used to pay for Stewie’s surgery and recovery will go into its surgery center fund to help other animals in need of veterinary care.
The humane society says Stewie was rescued from the home of Robert Heckmann, 25, of Pueblo. Heckmann is accused of videotaping himself torturing and then killing Stewie’s brother, Loki. Heckmann is facing animal cruelty charges.
Stewie’s surgery has not yet been scheduled.
