Nighttime ramp closures planned for north I-25 cone zone

The Colorado Department of Transportation says ramp closures are planned for the next two nights as part of the I-25 expansion project in northern El Paso County.

A new, third lane of I-25 is scheduled to open for the first time this coming Saturday (12/28/13). The ramp closures, which will happen overnight on Thursday (12/26) and Friday (12/27), are a necessary step toward reaching the Saturday goal of opening the new lane on I-25.

Ramp closures and detourstonight (12/26) are:

North Gate Boulevard to northbound I-25 will close at about 9 p.m. and reopentomorrow morningby 5:30 a.m.

oDetour is North Gate Boulevard to Struthers Road, Struthers Road north to Baptist Road, Baptist Road west to northbound I-25.

Northbound I-25 off-ramp to Baptist Road will close at about 9 p.m. and reopentomorrow morningby 5:30 a.m.

oDetour is North Gate Boulevard (Exit 156) east to Struthers Road, Struthers Road north to Baptist Road.

Ramp closures and detourstomorrow night (12/27) are:

Northbound I-25 off-ramp to Baptist Road will close at about 9 p.m. and reopenSaturdaymorning by 5:30 a.m.

oDetour is North Gate Boulevard (Exit 156) east to Struthers Road, Struthers Road north to Baptist Road.

On-ramp from Baptist Road to northbound I-25 will close at about 9 p.m. and reopenSaturdaymorning by 5:30 a.m.

oDetour is Baptist Road to Jackson Creek Parkway, Jackson Creek Parkway north to State Highway 105, State Highway 105 west to entrance ramp to northbound I-25.

Construction workers will take a break from daytime and nighttime work on Tuesday, December 31 and Wednesday, January 1.

CDOT says the road surface that opens Saturday will not be the final road surface. Final paving will happen in the spring and summer of 2014 when temperatures warm up.
