A flood of gun buyers on Black Friday
One Black Friday frenzy is being overlooked in Colorado. On this typical shop til you drop mall adventure, the gun stores are full to overflowing with those looking for holiday gifts or are ready to plunk down the cash to buy new weapons. At the Shootin’ Den, Jeff Cluver found a steal of a deal, “I’ve always been wanting to get a rifle and now it seemed like a good time. They had a real good deal on this weapon.” Jeff bought this new rifle on his wife’s birthday which is Black Friday, “She was joking that I got a present on her birthday. It’s for both of us and hopefully get another rifle and take up hunting together.”
Tracy Osbourne is owner of the Shootin’ Den and tells me that his store had been busy since he opened the doors. He believes a lot of people were looking for holiday gifts. Tracy told me he’s excited for the rush of the crowds and especially new buyers, “I love a new shooter. I love a new person to the gun world for the sheer fact that if you can get your hands on them first before someone else does, you can teach them the right way to do something so they are not a nuisance or a menace to society.”
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation also sees Black Friday as its busiest day of the year. Last year there were 4300 background checks done for Colorado gun buyers. I just checked minutes ago and this Black Friday there have been 3,209 background checks.
