Arson suspected in at least six unsolved fires

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says at least six fires in northern El Paso County could have been set intentionally.

All of the fires occurred after the Black Forest Fire — the state’s most destructive fire to date. Four of them were in Fox Run Regional Park, another about a mile away at the intersection of Roller Coaster and Stagecoach roads, and the sixth, and latest, at Kingswood Drive and Baptist Road on Nov. 8.

Lt. Jeff Kramer with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that it’s possible the fires around Fox Run Regional Park could be linked, given their proximity to each other. All of them are deemed suspicious.

“Although it seems that several months have passed, and maybe we would hope that we would have answers by now, it’s not uncommon at all when it comes to arson investigations,” Kramer said.

New leads are continuing to come into the sheriff’s office, but Kramer would not specify what they were. A vague suspect description was given by a witness at the first suspicious fire, but Kramer could not say if it helped investigators come any closer to determining a suspect.
