Trinidad mayor submits resignation
Trinidad Mayor Bernadette Baca-Gonzales has given her notice of intent to resign. City Manager Tom Acre confirmed the resignation to KRDO NewsChannel 13 on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 6, 2013. No specific reason was given.
Our partners at AroundTrinidad.com say they have obtained a copy of the letter that was submitted to the city manager Wednesday morning.
“To City Manager Tom Acre & the Members of the Trinidad City Council I am writing to inform you that I am resigning as Mayor, effective immediately.”
In another portion of the letter published by AroundTrinidad.com Baca-Gonzales makes a recommendation for who she believes should replace her.
“I respectfully request that council consider the immediate selection of Joe Reorda (Mayor Elect), to serve the remaining weeks of my term of office.
I believe this course of action will be in the best interests of the citizens of Trinidad, Colorado.”
AroundTrinidad.com reports that multiple sources have confirmed that Acre and the city attorney are looking to get Mayor Elect Joe Reorda sworn in before January.
