Big money from the Red Kettle campaign

A big finish for the Red Kettle campaign that helps the Salvation Army of the Pikes Peak Region.

Major John Bennett with the charity tells me, nearly 552-thousand dollars was brought in by your generosity. That tally means they beat last year’s campaign by 30-thousand dollars.

Major Bennett was nervous in mid-December because the campaign was 45 thousand dollars behind what the Salvation Army was expecting. Major Bennett told me your help is very much appreciated, “I noticed that the last week of the campaign, many people came up to our bell ringers and said we heard you were behind and we are going to help you out. It was a phenomenal response.”

Major Bennett said the online campaign is still going on until December 31st, so don’t forget to make your contribution.

I also asked him about the two stolen kettles. He wouldn’t go into specifics about the investigation but would say he has information on it. He said the people who may have taken the money have been contacted, “People make those contributions. It’s a huge deal for them. Some children have saved pennies and nickels and dimes to give to us at the end of the year. We take that as a sacred trust.”
