Group gives Xmas trees to those without

It started as a Craigslist ad trying to get rid of a Christmas tree. Now it’s turned into the Christmas Tree Project, delivering trees to those less fortunate.

Saturday the group brought the holidays to the Saving Grace, a group home for girls ages 12 to 17.”We try to make the holidays as big for them as possible. They’ve been bugging me for a tree for awhile,” said Tanah Turner, the director of Saving Grace.

The Christmas tree project was founded in 2010 and has handed out 700 trees to families in need. “It really brings it all together for me to see that it really does make a difference, ” said Michelle Fein, founder of the Christmas Tree Project.

The tree was decorated with ornaments, tinsel and a angel for the top. “They just don’t have a lot so this is a big deal for them, ” Turner said.

Christmas Carolers from Colorado Springs Conservatory joined in today’s tree delivery.
