1 arrested after report of gunfire in Security-Widefield

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office tells KRDO NewsChannel 13 that one person has been placed under arrest on Monday afternoon after reports of gunfire in a Security-Widefield neighborhood.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Fordham Street around 1 p.m. Monday on a report of someone firing a gun. When deputies arrived, they also heard gunfire coming from a home, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies detained eight people in the neighborhood for questioning. After follow-up investigation, one person was arrested and a firearm was collected. There are no reports of injuries. The suspect’s name has not been released.

The Sheriff’s Office says there is no further danger to the public.
