Patient stabbed in eyes, face at Colorado Mental Health Institute

A sleeping patient was stabbed in the eyes and face by a fellow patient at the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo Wednesday.

According to our partners at The Pueblo Chiefain, 29 year old Lamar Del Ray Davis attacked Kim Breanna Lucero at 6:24 this morning.

Lucero was sleeping when Davis went into her room and stabbed her with a pair of scissors.

Lucero lost one eye in the attack, and may lose sight in the other according to KMGH-TV reporterJohn Ferrugia.

The Chieftainreports thatDavis checked out a pair of scissors from a nursing station. A nurse asked for the scissors back when Davis asked to go to another patient’s room, but he “lied,” saying he left them in the kitchen.

Davis told investigators he was feeling “aggressive” and wanted to “kill somebody to get back at peers and staff,”The Chieftainreported.

Davis was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and his being held at the Pueblo County Jail.
