Man taken to hospital after high-angle rescue

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A man was taken to the hospital Friday after a high-angle rescue in Garden of the Gods.

Ivette Bruno was watching the climber from the road when she saw the man loose his balance and fall. She said the man fell several feet before he was caught by his harness. She said the man was suspended on his back and unconscious.

“As he went down he hit his head, and that’s where the blood is. And after he hit his head, he had a seizure,” said Bruno.

She said another Garden of the Gods visitor called 9-1-1 and an ambulance came promptly.

The man was climbing with two other people. Bruno said the injured climber’s partner climbed up the rock andhelped the injured climber down the cliff.

Bruno said the man was walking around and talking before he left in an ambulance.
