Authorities search for missing Colorado Springs boy

Authorities in La Plata County are looking for a 13-year-old boy who went missing from a home north of Vallecito Lake on Monday morning.

Dylan Redwine moved with his mother to Colorado Springs this summer from Vallecito but Dylan’s father still lives in Vallecito, the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office told KRDO NewsChannel 13. Authorities say that Dylan was visiting his father for the Thanksgiving holiday and was reported missing around 6 p.m. Monday. His father, Mark Redwine, said that Dylan was at the house when he left for errands at 7:30 a.m. Monday. When he returned, Dylan was gone.

It is unknown what clothing Dylan was wearing but he may have been carrying a backpack. The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office says a postal worker claimed to have seen Dylan with another boy. When search and rescue teams approached the boy, he fled.

Search and rescue teams have been looking all over the tight, narrow valley of Vallecito.

Dylan’s mom and other family members have arrived in La Plata County from Colorado Springs to join the search. Officials have not ruled anything out, including the possibility of a runaway.
