Denver may pay for deaf inmate death

The Denver City Council is considering paying nearly $700,000 to settle a federal lawsuit brought by the family of a deaf jail inmate who attempted suicide while in custody and later died.

Shawn Vigil was in jail for a month on sexual-assault charges before hanging himself in his jail cell in 2005.

According to the Denver Post (http://tinyurl.com/8jnycv7), the settlement is expected to be approved when the city council meets on Monday.
