Family Fights To Save Their Service Dog
For the past week the Reynolds’ family has been fighting to save their service dog, Shadow, who has been called “dangerous” and at one point was recommended to be put down.
The Reynolds said it happened nearly a week ago when Shadow got out of the yard, a neighbor called in a dangerous dog and Shadow was taken to the Pikes Peak Humane Society, where he is still being held.
Aaron said Shadow is his service dog and plans to fight the tickets and the recommendation to put him down all the way to court. Aaron said he was told he would receive a letter on how to get him back but instead the letter told him it was recommended that Shadow be euthanized.
Being a service dog, Shadow has had to prove his temperament is not one of aggression and has the papers certifying the point.
“He’s growled at people before but its more so because he wants them to back off because he’s not comfortable, but that’s any dog,” explains Aaron.
Later this week, the Reynolds plan on taking the numerous tickets to court, and fight to get their service dog back. They have told us that as of now Shadow will not be put down.
The Reynolds goal is to get Shadow back with his owner in time for his 18th birthday this week, one that Aaron said would be the best present ever.
KRDO Newschannel 13 has attempted to contact the Humane Society but we are still waiting for a return call.
