Victim In Deadly Shooting Identified

Police are identifying the victim of a Colorado Springs shooting Saturday morning as 31-year-old Virgil Means.

Means’ death is the sixth homicide of the year for the city.

Investigators said Means had been attending a party at the “Sin City Disciples Motorcycle Club” clubhouse and was involved in a fight early Saturday morning.

Officers say there was some kind of brawl that Means apparently was involved in and he was leaving the clubhouse. He was a passenger in a car when someone fired several shots at him. He was rushed to Penrose Hospital where he later died.

Police have not identified the suspect.

I contacted some of his Facebook friends who told me that this Harrison High School Graduate, class of 1999, was a spiritual man. Dedan Tolbert told me that he believes Means was in the wrong place and wrong time when he was shot. Tolbert says Means was trying to get out of the club scene. Another one of Virgil’s friends told me he knew him in elementary school and reconnected with him on Facebook. He didn’t want his name used but would tell me, “Virgil was a good person with a good heart and wouldn’t start anything with anyone.”
