Woman found dead after house fire in Security

KRDO

SECURITY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating what led to a woman's death after she was found following a house fire early Monday morning in Security.

The fire happened around 2:30 a.m. on Cypress Drive, which is south of Colorado Springs. EPCSO says deputies and the Security Fire Department responded and found "large flames and smoke coming out of the residence." Neighboring homes were evacuated while the fire burned.

Once the house was safe to enter, EPCSO says firefighters found the woman inside.

The victim's identity hasn't been released yet.

It's not clear if this is a homicide or accidental death at this time. EPCSO says it's conducting a full investigation with multiple fire departments to look into the incident.
