Door To Door Salesmen Sparks Shooting Incident
A Colorado Springs man was arrested after chasing teenage salesmen off his porch and firing a gun two times.
It happened around 8 o’clock Wednesday night. Neighbors said the three teens played football for Coronado High School and were selling discount cards door to door as a fundraiser for the team.
In the 5900 block they came to Arthur Baldwin’s door. Police said they got into a fight with Baldwin and that’s when he reportedly pulled the gun. As the teens ran off, Baldwin allegedly fired two shots though no one is saying if the bullets were fired into the air, the ground or elsewhere.
Baldwin was arrested and charged with felony menacing and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
No one was hurt in the incident. Neighbors said the move, if true, was too extreme in their quiet neighborhood.
“High school students you’d think that’s safe, doing fundraisers and they can go into the neighborhood [safely,]” said Heather Miller.
A spokeswoman for School District 11 said counseling is being offered to those students. She said the students were participating in a one-day push to sell the discount cards door-to-door. The school district applauds the teens for going out in a group as a safety measure and reporting the incident right away to the school’s vice principal.
