Pedestrian ‘seriously injured’ following crash south of downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - A driver has been charged and released following a crash involving a pedestrian early Tuesday morning.

Police officers were called to the area of Las Vegas St. and Nevada Ave. just before 6 a.m.

According to police, the victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Further investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing legally when they were hit.

Police had told KRDO that the driver was nowhere to be found following the crash. Investigators on the scene then told us the driver had been charged and then released.

CSPD says the driver's windshield had frost and ice on it and was barely scraped. Police say could have played a major factor in not seeing the pedestrian cross the street.
