Monarch Mountain opening on Friday
SALIDA, Colo. (KRDO) -- Monarch Mountain is opening up for the season so you can slice through some white powder on Black Friday.
The southern Colorado ski area will officially start turning its lifts for guests at 9 a.m. Friday. According to Monarch, the Caterpillar, Tumbelina, Pioneer and Panorama lifts will be operating for now.
If you don't have a pass yet, you'll need to book a lift ticket online by 11 p.m. if you want to ski on holidays or weekends. Monarch said in a statement that ticket quantities may be limited and protocols could change throughout the season, but season pass holders can go straight to the lifts any day of the season.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the lodge is currently restricted to 50% capacity. Face coverings will be required in all of the buildings and lift lines as well as while on the lifts or anywhere six feet of distance can't be maintained.
