CDOT and El Paso County warn drivers of slick spots
If you're hitting the road this holiday season, CDOT and El Paso County say their plow crews are still working to clear the roads.
A winter storm that rocked Colorado roads and dumped several inches of snow in Colorado Springs has left behind lots of cleanup work.
Kevin Mastin, Deputy Director at Department of Public Works at El Paso County says, "we have people working extra shifts like I said 24 hours a day starting early Monday morning before the snow even came."
On the interstate, Michelle Puellen with CDOT says "we're putting de-icer to take care of those slick spots because we still have spots that need to be cleaned in Colorado Springs because we do have significant snowpack on the roads."
AAA says 834,000 Coloradoans are opting to drive to their Thanksgiving meal this year, a 2.8% increase from last year.
Puellen said, "Roads are going to be a little slower than usual."
With another storm headed toward the state, Mastin says his crews are ready to go back out.
"You can expect your county workers to be out here in the vehicles and getting the roads clear so people can travel."
