Winter Weather Headed To Colorado
Tonight: Staying mostly clear through the evening in central/southern Colorado with light winds and temperatures to 55 degrees in Colorado Springs and 59 in Pueblo.
Labor Day: Plenty of sunshine to start off the day with temperatures once again warming to well above average highs, to 89 degrees in Colorado Springs and 97 in Pueblo. Little to no precipitation chances through the day.
Tuesday: This is where things get interesting. A very strong cold front will sweep through Colorado during the early morning hours which will have drastic winter weather like impacts throughout the day. First and foremost the temperatures. Bitterly cold air will be transported into the region as high temperatures along the I-25 corridor will struggle to reach out of the 40s, making it actually colder than the average highs in January. Secondly, the wind will make it feel even colder than that. With gusts anywhere from 40-50mph expect wind chills in the 20s and the potential for tree limb damage in conjunction with reduced visibility due to snowfall. Many locations above 7000ft find themselves currently under Winter Storm Watches Tuesday as it'll be possible to experience moderate to heavy snowfall. A Colorado Springs is difficult, exactly when precipitation will change from rain to snow is uncertain but a Trace-3" total for the metropolitan area is a safe estimate. Travel conditions Tuesday afternoon/evening may become difficult, plan ahead, and stay weather aware.
