KRDO 2020 Voter Guide: Mike Seebeck
Libertarian candidate Mike Seebeck is running for a seat to represent House District 21, which encompasses Security-Widefield, Fountain and Fort Carson. Seebeck resides in Fountain, but has previously served as the Vice-Chair of the Libertarian Party of California.
What is your top issue for the next legislative session, and how do you plan to fix it?
Seebeck: First priority is to roll back the unlawful "emergency powers" that the governor has been abusing, and place that decision-making at a more accountable level of the counties and municipalities. Plus, reform CDOT so that it works on a county-by-county basis and not Denver-centric. Southern Colorado has been short-shrifted for too long, and that needs to change.
How can the legislature address the state's housing and cost of living issues?
Seebeck: It can't. These are local issues best left to the counties and municipalities to sort out.
Should COVID-19 be handled more at a local level or from a top-level approach in the state?
Seebeck: Local level, definitely. Denver is not Julesberg is not Lake City is not Craig is not Springfield is not the Fountain Valley. One size doesn't fit all, and the COVID-19 response model is most definitely not that of the Governor.
