I-25 ramp signal at S. Academy Boulevard being activated next week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Commuters traveling from south Colorado Springs might notice a new change when getting into I-25 next week.
The Colorado Department of Transportation says the northbound Interstate 25 on-ramp at South Academy Boulevard is being activated on Monday.
The goal is to alleviate merging traffic on I-25 and ease slowdowns. The ramps are essentially traffic signals that will control when vehicles enter the freeway.
It's the first signal of 12 in Colorado Springs that will be phased in over the next few months, according to CDOT.
Michelle Peulen with CDOT spoke with KRDO NewsRadio on Wednesday to give more information about the goals of the project. You can listen to that episode here.
