COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Police say the suspect in a fatal auto v. pedestrian crash Tuesday fled the scene. Colorado Springs Police shared the photos below of the suspect vehicle.

The crash happened just after 9 p.m. near North Academy Boulevard and Village Seven Road. At the scene, officers found 55-year-old Edward G. Montelongo of Colorado Springs who had been struck by a dark-colored sedan. First responders began lifesaving measures but Montelongo died from injuries he suffered in the crash.

Investigators determined that Montelongo had been trying to cross the northbound lanes on Academy when he was struck by the sedan. The car fled the scene after the crash, continuing northbound on Academy. Police believe this vehicle would have front-end damage related to the crash.

This is the 10th traffic-related fatality in Colorado Springs and the second pedestrian fatality in 2020.
