Parkview medical center offers mask cleaning services for Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Can a robot help fight COVID-19? Well in Pueblo it just might keep people healthier as they return to the workforce.

Starting on Monday, Parkview Medical Center is helping Pueblo business partners with a free service to sterilize masks amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

That service is named Tru-D. A germ killing robot, that uses UV Light to clean any brand of N-95 facial masks.

“We don’t think the masks are going anywhere any time soon,” said Racheal Morris, the Communications Specialist at Parkview Medical Center. “One of the biggest challenges with COVID is resources. With the Tru-D sterilization ultraviolet robot we are able to clean those masks and extend their shelf life.”

Businesses can drop off masks at Parkview for a free cleaning every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Masks are dropped off in a self-provided reusable plastic bin, and the bin then goes on a marked case cart inside the main entrance of the hospital.  Parkview only asks that each mask is marked with the business name and full name of the employee.

"Each individual mask will be sterilized a maximum of three times," said Parkview Medical Center in a memo. " Parkview will mark masks with a dot each time they are cleaned.  Those with three dots will be discarded."
