DENVER (KRDO) -- For the second night in a row, protesters and police clashed in the streets of downtown Denver amid calls for justice for a black man who died in police custody earlier this week.

The death of George Floyd, a Minnesota man who died after an officer knelt on his neck, has sparked protests throughout the country.

In Denver, a mostly peaceful protest Friday erupted into more riots involving vandalism, destruction, tear gas and projectiles. Some people were seen spray-painting a statue near the Capitol steps.

KRDO reporter Chase Golightly was there Friday night as the protests continued. You can follow his live coverage here:

Around 10 p.m. a dumpster fire ignited, sending tall flames into air already thick with tear gas.

KRDO will continue coverage of any protests through the weekend.
