UPS truck driver killed in crash near Ellicott

KRDO

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado State Patrol was called to a fatal crash Thursday night after a UPS truck driver reportedly veered off the road.

The single-vehicle crash happened just before 9 p.m. on Highway 94 a few miles past Ellicott. A spokesman with CSP tells us the driver, who has been identified as 71-year-old Don Buckner, was declared dead at the hospital. Witnesses say the truck flipped over, ejecting the driver.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, though speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
