The Rocky Mountain Vibes could be a thing of the past if Major League Baseball gets their way
Negotiations between Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball on whether or not to reduce minor league baseball teams from 160 to 120 will happen Wednesday morning. If this proposal goes through, it will put the Rocky Mountain Vibes in jeopardy. When Major League Baseball proposed this idea back in October, Minor League Baseball was going to fight it and they also had the backing of Congress. That has all changed because of the on-going coronavirus pandemic.
If this proposal goes through, it appears that it will, rookie league baseball will be eliminated. That's the level of baseball, the Vibes currently play in. The Vibes tell KRDO Newschannel 13 Rob Namnoum that the proposal is troubling and that it appears to be a grim situation. The Vibes are hopeful that there will be baseball played in Colorado Springs this summer but who knows if that is going to happen due to the social distancing orders.
If the Vibes get cut from minor league baseball, that wouldn't come into play until the summer of 2021.
