Marty’s Sunday Morning Forecast – Tracking More Rain & Snow Showers – 4/19/20

Overview:  We're tracking warmer air and weak upper-level waves that will keep scattered rain showers, snow showers, and possibly some thunderstorms in the forecast almost daily over the next week.

Today:  Partly cloudy with isolated rain and/or snow showers possible this morning, then scattered showers (snow over the mountains, rain over the plains) more likely again this afternoon. We don’t expect the coverage of showers to be quite as high as yesterday for many areas, but where showers do develop they’ll tend to cool the air significantly at least temporarily as they pass by so be prepared for periods of time where the air may feel cooler than the expected high temperatures would suggest. High temperatures should reach the 50s and 60s for the plains with 40s to lower 50s over the mountains.

Tonight:  Scattered rain and snow showers should decrease in coverage with a partly cloudy sky for most areas late. We expect low temperatures in the 20s over the mountains and mainly 30s for the plains.

Extended:  We will continue to track mainly weak, upper-level waves across the state that will bring the possibility for at least scattered rain and snow showers to parts of the area for much of next week. Although the air will be warmer than last week, scattered rain and snow showers will stop us from getting too warm most days with mainly 40s and 50s over the mountains and 50s and 60s for the plains. Monday night, and late Tuesday/Tuesday night could feature a relative increase in the coverage of rain showers, snow showers and possibly some thunderstorms over the area. Late Thursday into Friday may again bring an increase in the coverage of rain and snow showers to parts of the area. Next weekend looks warmer.
