One driver killed in crash at Platte Avenue and Space Center Drive

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - One driver died in a two-vehicle crash near East Platte Avenue and Space Center Drive early Saturday morning, according to Colorado Springs police.

Officers responded around 12:47 a.m. Oct. 24. Emergency crews found one driver dead. The other driver remained at the scene and cooperated with responders.

Investigators say a black car was traveling west on Platte Avenue while a gray truck was heading east and attempting to turn left onto northbound Space Center Drive. The vehicles collided in the intersection.

The intersection was closed for several hours while the department’s Major Crash Team investigated.

Police say impairment may have contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased driver’s identity after their next of kin has been notified.
