Warm and dry heading into the weekend

Today: Tracking another extremely above-average day today. Colorado Springs could get up to 84 degrees as a high temperature, which would tie the daily high temperature record for October 9th.

Breezy conditions continue until about 7 pm with gusts up to 20 mph. Winds will mostly be heading north.

Mountain areas will likely get a dusting of snow on peaks just west of Salida. However, much more moisture for the mountains is in store for the weekend.

Tomorrow: Morning temperatures are still chilly and in the low 50s despite the highs being in the 80s. Mountain areas get most of the action, with a dusting of snow through the early morning hours until 8 am for areas above 10,000 feet elevation. Around 11 am Salida and Leadville are expected to get a shower, with mountain peaks turning white.

Widespread showers and thunderstorms take over after 2 pm for the western high country. Flooding is a concern, especially since the ground is very unsaturated and will be slow to absorb water. These storms continue through the overnight hours and into early Sunday morning.

Locally, for El Paso and Pueblo County, conditions will be mostly dry and cloudy with a slim chance of a light shower. Sunday evening will bring a better chance for rain east of I-25.
