One dog rescued from house fire in Widefield area Tuesday

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Security Fire Department (SFD) is sharing more information about a house fire that broke out on Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials, the department first responded to a structure fire in the 6000 block of Defoe Avenue in Widefield. SFD says the fire quickly spread to a house next door. They say they were able to get the fire under control, and no one was hurt.

SFD says a dog was rescued from the home. Video taken by a bystander posted to the SFD Facebook page shows heavy smoke and flames visible from across the block before crews were on the scene.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation, according to SFD.
