Record heat possible this Week

A strong heat dome has built in across the Southwest, with our area seeing well-above-average temperatures. By this evening, a few isolated showers will be possible across the mountains. The rest of the viewing area will remain dry, with temperatures dropping only into the mid-50s under mostly clear skies.

Tomorrow will feature further warm weather, with record highs not out of the question, as daytime highs reach the mid-80 with abundant sunshine. A few isolated showers will again be possible in the mountains during the afternoon hours.

The upper-level ridge will remain in place through the rest of the week, keeping our temperatures well above average. Chances of rain will remain minimal across the I-25 corridor and eastern Plains, with better chances developing each afternoon across the mountains. The latest data suggests that a strong, upper-level low will begin to impact our area with cooler temperatures and better chances for precipitation by perhaps Sunday.
