Steve’s Garden: How to keep gardens growing in fall and winter

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- It's not a secret that most crops' growing seasons have come to an end.

But that doesn't mean gardeners have to stop getting their hands dirty for the rest of the year. It's full swing for mum season for all the flower lovers out there.

"It is mum season," Mike Spencer from Spencer's Lawn and Garden Centers said. "We can be planning our fall pansies, overseeding our yards. Getting the mums in, doing some fall decoration. There's still a lot of time left."

Getting those flowers into the ground several weeks before the first real front of the season lets the roots anchor.
