Volunteers pull truck along Highway 24 to raise awareness for veteran suicide

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Without heavy traffic, it would take almost 30 minutes to drive on Highway 24 from Ellicott Highway to Marksheffel Road.

For Dean Goble, it took more than six hours; that's because he wasn't driving a truck, he was pulling it. Goble, with Black Rifle Coffee Company, had teamed up with the Mount Carmel Veterans Service Center to raise awareness of veteran suicide and generate support for services for veterans, military members, and their families.

Organizers say 30 people showed up along the route to help, which helped the pull finish almost three hours early. The plan was to finish between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Instead, they finished before noon.

"Just taking a little time to make a phone call, you'd be shocked at how much that could help out," Goble said.
