New golf facility for kids to be rebuilt at Valley Hi golf course

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo; (KRDO) -- The city plans to rebuild a children's golf center at the Valley Hi golf course that will cost 1.2 million dollars.

The organization First Tee's location at the course is dedicated to teaching children from the ages of 3-18. The upgrades will include foundational and technological advancements including two golf simulators, a multi-purpose room, and putting greens.

"We are really excited to have access to technology through the golf simulators to learn and practice their game," Chief Executive Officer Sandy Johnson said.

First Tee makes sure to combine the game of golf with skills kids are able to apply to life like self-confidence and resilience.

"We focus on leadership and life skill development through the game of golf," Johnson said.

The facility will be open for people in the community that provide opportunities for families, mentors and individuals by offering clinics, tournaments, and events.

The 2,000 square foot facility is expected to be done at the earliest by Spring 2027.
