Suspect in August shooting near Prospect Lake arrested for first-degree assault, attempted murder

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) says it has arrested a man wanted for attempted murder and first-degree assault.

CSPD says its Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force (VOFTF) arrested 61-year-old Tony Robinson in connection with a shooting incident on August 1 near Prospect Lake.

Robinson was seen walking from his apartment to a nearby drugstore, and then leaving the business and going back towards his apartment complex. Robinson was arrested without incident.

VOFTF says it was assisted by a Real Time Crime Center drone and cameras in taking Robinson into custody without incident. CSPD says the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Investigations Team and a CSPD K9 also assisted.

In the initial investigation, CSPD says a shooting was reported in the 600 block of Prospect Lake Drive at Memorial Park around 4:30 p.m. on August 1. At the time, police said there were two suspects, one who had fled on foot and another in a vehicle.

CSPD told KRDO13 the victim was expected to make a full recovery, and they believe they have arrested and charged all persons involved in the incident.
