Wanted fugitive caught in local hotel with fentanyl and meth

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) says it worked with the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force to arrest a wanted fugitive.

According to officials, 49-year-old Joe Gutierrez from Denver was wanted for a parole violation, motor vehicle theft and eluding. Officials found him at a local hotel and were able to take him into custody.

After a search warrant was served, detectives with PCSO found just over 98 grams of fentanyl, 75 grams of methamphetamine, two handguns and a large amount of money, according to PCSO.

Gutierrez was arrested for his outstanding warrants and how faces new charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and being a special offender.

He was booked into the Pueblo County Jail.
