Officials identify pedestrian killed in crash on Garden of the Gods Road in August

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Coroner's Office has identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed in a traffic accident on August 19.

According to officials, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) was on the scene of a traffic crash near Garden of the Gods Road and Northpark Drive around 12:15 a.m. on August 19. An investigation revealed a car traveling eastbound on Garden of the Gods Road when it hit a pedestrian.

39-year-old Amanda Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

Officials say the driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police during the investigation.

This is the 40th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. CSPD says alcohol and speed don't seem to be factors in the crash, but the investigation remains open.
