Man arrested in Pueblo after threatening and spitting on police

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man has been arrested after threatening to shoot police officers, then spitting on them.

The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) says they responded to a call around 1:40 p.m. Saturday about a violation of a restraining order in the 1600 block of Kickapoo Road. According to officials, officers had contacted the suspect, 30-year-old Michael Mondragon, earlier that day and he had threatened to shoot officers.

PDD says officers coordinated a plan to arrest Mondragon, and he made additional threats towards officers after their arrivals. Officers told Mondragon to leave the house he was in, and he refused. A taser was deployed by PPD, and Mondragon was taken into custody, according to officials.

Mondragon was taken to a local hospital for medical clearance, where he then spit on two officers.

He was then taken to the Pueblo County Detention Center and charged with four counts of restraining order violation, two counts of third degree assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
