Pueblo police arrest suspect in city’s 11th homicide of the year

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) says it has arrested a 23-year-old man after an alleged homicide on Thursday night.

According to officials, Kalob Deyo, was arrested for manslaughter. Police say they were called to a home in the 600 block of Acero Avenue around 10 p.m. for a report of a shooting. When they arrived on scene, PPD says they found one man dead.

“That was a little too close for comfort. That’s scary. Somebody getting murdered right next door. It’s not good,” said next-door neighbor Phyllis Garcia.

Neighbors told KRDO13 this is typically a quiet, friendly neighborhood.

Some of them had their windows or doors cracked open that evening, yet none of them recalled hearing any gunshots or commotion.

“No screaming, no crying. You would think people would scream ... Dead silence until the officers came,” Garcia said.

Other individuals in the home were taken to PPD for interviews, and Deyo was arrested. PPD says this is the city's 11th homicide of the year.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing. More information about the victim will be released by the Pueblo County Coroner's Office.

KRDO13 knocked on the home where neighbors said this incident happened, but no one answered.
