Colorado State Patrol investigates fatal Peyton scooter crash

KRDO

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is investigating after a fatal crash involving a scooter on Bent Grassmeadows Drive in Peyton earlier today.

CSP says it responded to a call around 8 p.m. Thursday night about a single-vehicle crash involving a scooter. According to officials, a person riding a scooter was carrying a case of beer and operating the scooter with one hand when he lost control, struck a curb, and hit the ground.

The rider, a 40-year-old man, was pronounced dead on the scene. CSP says the road was closed in both directions as of 10 p.m. while officials investigated.

CSP's Vehicular Crimes unit is currently investigating, and says the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
