17-year-old female arrested for attempted murder in El Paso County shootings

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A 17-year-old female has been arrested after allegedly being involved in two shootings in May at the Cheyenne Mountain Estates.

El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) says they responded to the Cheyenne Mountain Estates around 2:31 a.m. on May 11 after receiving a report that shots were fired towards a home.

According to EPSO, the reporting party told law enforcement that a group of teenagers was outside their home, and one individual had allegedly fired multiple rounds towards their house.

The victim's home and nearby vehicles were struck by the gunfire, but no injuries were reported according to EPSO.

The next day, EPSO says the same victim reported around 2:30 a.m. that the individuals had returned and were banging on their front door. A suspect then shot a gun in the victim's direction, according to investigators.

After allegedly shooting at the victim, a vehicle drove away but returned twice with additional shots fired at the victim's home each time, says law enforcement.

EPSO says, based on evidence and interviews, investigators charged a 17-year-old female with the following on May 27:

  • Two counts of attempted murder
  • Three counts of menacing
  • Criminal mischief
  • Unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon
  • Prohibited use of weapons
  • Reckless endangerment
  • Third-degree criminal trespassing

On June 22, the female was arrested and booked into the Zebulon Pike Youth Services Center, confirms EPSO.
