Police: Alcohol likely a factor in crash at Astrozon and Chelton

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Multiple people were taken to the hospital after a crash that mangled two SUVs and left a trail of debris strewn along the side of Astrozon Boulevard Sunday night.

Police are investigating the crash, which happened around 7:10 p.m. in the intersection of Astrozon and Chelton Road. Investigators say one of the vehicles drove through a red light and collided into another SUV.

CSPD didn't say how many people were injured, but police communications Sunday night indicated that at least two teenagers were taken to the hospital. It's not clear which vehicle they were in.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing, but alcohol may be a factor in the crash.
