Fremont County Sheriff’s Office make second arrest in connection to jail escape

FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - The Fremont County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) has made a second arrest in connection to a jail escape that occurred in early June 2024.

FCSO says that detectives arrested Kyle J. Vanvliet, 38, of Canon City, on a warrant for Aiding Escape, a class 3 Felony.

FCSO confirms that this arrest is in connection with the escape of Kegan Vanvliet. Kegan escaped from the Fremont County jail where he was being held on charges from the Canon City Police Department for attempted murder, possession of a dangerous weapon, prohibited use of a weapon, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, and domestic violence. He was apprehended in Colorado Springs after a 12-hour manhunt.

Kyle J. Vanvliet was booked into the Fremont County Jail on a $10,000.00 cash or surety bond.
