Police chase ends with carjacking suspect in custody in Pueblo

A woman is in custody in Pueblo after allegedly stealing a vehicle and leading officers on a wild police chase.

The victim was driving a red Dodge Challenger when she was carjacked at gunpoint at the 2200 block of East 9th Street. She then called police.

After she called police, officers spotted the vehicle and pursued. A pit maneuver spun the stolen Dodge Challenger, ending the chase at the intersection of Hart Rd. and 29th Street.

The female suspect then fled on foot towards the train tracks. A train was coming across at the same time.

Police originally believed she then tried to jump through the train cars. That’s when they made an arrest, 30 minutes after the original carjacking.

According to the Pueblo Police Department, it’s possible that the woman might not have been hit by the train. After evaluations at the hospital, the woman could have experienced a seizure.

The suspect is expected to survive. She is being treated for injuries at Parkview Medical Center.

The Pueblo Police Department are on the scene of Hart Rd and West 29th after a chase ended with a carjacking suspect struck by a moving train.

Police were able to corner the stolen vehicle after the chase, that’s when the female suspect got out on foot and tried to flee.

Police say she was later struck by a moving train. The extent of her injuries aren’t clear at this time. Police are trying to determine whether she tried to jump through the train or get on it.
