Dear found not competent to stand trial for Planned Parenthood shooting
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - A judge has ruled Robert Dear incompetent to stand trial for the 2015 Planned Parenthood shooting in Colorado Springs. There were no new findings related to this case, so Dear was once again ruled incompetent
Last month, the self-admitted gunman was indicted on 68 federal charges related to the shooting attack that left 3 people dead. Eight others were wounded, including four police officers.
Dear was taken into custody at the site of the shooting, but he has yet to face trial in a local jurisdiction because he has continually been deemed mentally incompetent for trial.
Another 60-day review is set for March 13. At this time, Dear is in federal custody in Denver. Authorities do not know how long he will be there.
