Police search for man who left scene of Colorado Springs rollover crash

Colorado Springs are searching for a man who caused a rollover crash late Thursday night and then left the scene on foot.

Officers responded to the crash on N. Academy Blvd. between Pikes Peak Ave. and Bijou St. shortly after 11 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a white Pontiac Grand Prix on its roof, blocking two northbound lanes of N. Academy.

A second vehicle, a silver Hyundai, was on the east side of the roadway partially on the sidewalk.

Further investigation revealed that the driver of the Grand Prix caused the crash and left the area on foot. Officers checked the area for the driver but were unable to locate him.

Witnesses describe the driver as a white male, wearing a red shirt, in his 20’s and he was limping when he left the scene.

The injuries reported on the scene from the other vehicle were minor.

N. Academy was closed at Pikes Peak for several hours following the crash and opened just before 6:30 a.m. Friday.
